Blogging again (at least for today!)

My purpose for blogging was to keep a fairly often diary of what is going on in our lives. It's fun to look back to see what we've been doing, what was important enough to blog about and the cute quips of the kids. I'm not sure once every 4-5 months accomplishes this task! So, as usual, I will do a photo catch up and hopefully get back on track in the blogosphere!

What have we been doing since I blogged last (which was September 29, 2010)? Alot! Here are the highlights!

School and ELO started! The kids love ELO (school, not so much!)

Eric played football and Jessica played in a couple of tennis tournaments.


Jessica went to Safety City. You are supposed to do this in the 4th grade, but my Dad's funeral was on the day she was scheduled to go. So, I figured it would be OK for her to do it in the 5th grade. She had been looking forward to Safety City for a couple of years and was really disappointed when she missed it.


The kids sang in a Thanksgiving performance at church as well as at Christmas







Jaelyn still likes ballet!

David and Eric went to see the Dallas Cowboys vs Detroit Lions football game. Although the outcome was not what they would have liked (Dallas won), the experience was a thrill for them both.

The girls went on a Daddy date to Chick-Fil-A.

We went on some field trips! Jessica went to Rockin' C Ranch and all 3 kids went to a bakery




Jessica is taking gymnastics.

My mom came to visit.


Halloween - not a great picture, but Jessica was Cleopatra, Eric was Mario and Jaelyn was Daphne from Scooby Doo.
And dare I say that Jessica's birthday was in June, but she didn't get a cake until . . well much later!

We went to Nebraska for Thanksgiving (and also celebrated Christmas).

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
