Our homeschool group had a field trip to the Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum in Gilmer, TX yesterday. What we thought might be a not so thrilling field trip (we knew it would be interesting learning about all the kinds of planes), turned out to be a true thrill (especially for this girl who love to fly!). Two of the pilots there offered to give everyone who wanted a ride one. This little kid at heart jumped at the chance to ride in a 2 seater that the pilot built himself. And the kids got to fly in what I understand was the first commercial plane for Delta. What an unexpected blessing for this field trip! Please say a prayer for David today (and over the next 2-3 weeks). It's still tough going. He's got state auditors coming in today who will probably stay for several weeks (and they are coming in at a State Representative's request who doesn't like some decisions that have been made), he's still working with a disgruntled employee (who really just needs to go away!), and he's got a really big project due March 15. He'll be working lots of late hours and probably some weekends over the next few weeks.

Eric has the most unusual ear infections that I know of. He's only had 3 - 2 of them were before the age of 2 and today, he has another one. When he was little, he never fussed, cried, ran a fever or anything prior to his 2 ear infections. He just tugged at his ears and I finally took him in. The verdict was always "Wow, I'm surprised he hasn't been crying. That's a really bad ear infection." So, yesterday around 4:30 he started to complain that his ear hurt. It was nothing dramatic (and it was right in the middle of picking up), so I didn't think too much about it. I gave him some Tylenol and Ibuprofin and he continued to play without too much complaint. Well last night he couldn't sleep, said his ear really hurt and he was crying. So, I knew there was something up but I really didn't think it was an ear infection. Again, he had no fever, no cold, no runny nose, etc. So, I took him into the walk-in clinic this morning and the doctor's...

What a great time the kids had in the wonderful, Nebraska-like, snowfall we had here in East Texas. We've only been here 3 years, but from what we understand, this is a rarity (we haven't seen anything like it). The kids had a great time playing, sledding, eating snow, and building snowmen!

David is still going through some tough stuff at work. Policiticians can be very selfish and unkind! At the moment, the previous prayer request is not on the fore-front (we think it's been mostly settled, but won't really know anything for sure until sometime next week - hopefully)! But, I'm praying this for David and I would just ask that you would pray it also: Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent." I'm praying this because David feels like Psalm 25:19-20 - "Look upon my enemies for they are many; and they hate me with violent hatred." Thanks!

David's meeting went OK yesterday. It probably went a little better than OK, but there's just one thing that David was disappointed with so that's what he's feeling right now. Hopefully that piece of it can be resolved next week. With that being said, though, overall things progressed as David would have liked and hopefully over the next few days, we'll find out if he's gearing up for a big fight or if things will start to settle down. Thanks for your prayers and if you are so inclined keep praying for strength, patience, wisdom and open hearts and minds.

For you non-facebookers, I just wanted to put up a request for prayer. David has had some difficulty with an employee for pretty much since he started. Things have come to a head over the last several weeks and he has a meeting with the board tomorrow. I'm not really sure how much I can say here, since anyone could view it. Let's just say that things could get nasty over the next few days, weeks, etc. and he could use lots of prayer. Prayer for wisdom, strength, discernment and just the right words to say. Prayers for the board to listen to David's words and prayers for the heart of this employee to be softened. Thanks!
