Fun at the Park

Image
Not to begin 'fun at the park' on a down note, but since my last Critter post, we did have a squirrel funeral. I didn't take pictures, be we buried Silver (yes, the kids named him) right next to Sparkles (the first bird we took care of last year). The quote of the funeral was from Eric: "The only thing that will comfort me is to play WII ". Now on to more joyous occasions! Yesterday we had a great day at the park with friends. We haven't been to the park in a while so we packed a lunch, took one dog, and made a day of it. I had a great time visiting with friends and the kids had a great time riding bikes, walking the dog and playing with friends. Anna Jo and Jaelyn with Bo. Anna Jo, Grayson , and Jaelyn taking Bo for a walk. Jaelyn having fun with Bo Jessica enjoying a bike ride Eric having fun on his bike (although he did take a couple of spills!) Eric dueling with his buddy Grayson Some more sword fighting with Colin and Luke

Critter Time!

Last summer we were the caretakers of several baby birds that fell from their nests. Of course it always seems to happen in the backyard where I feel I need to do something to save them (don't want the dogs to bring them in as 'trophies')! So it has started already except it's the baby squirrels. We found one yesterday and I put it in the front yard. I'm hopeful that it survived, but I don't really know. Today, the kids found another one. It's a little smaller than the first one and doesn't appear to be able to climb a tree yet. So, I don't really want to put it in the front to fend for itself; but I don't really want to try to take care of it either! What to do, what to do? For your viewing pleasure, here is a picture from the one yesterday: and one from today: Also, here's a video of the one from today eating a banana (I'm wearing oven mitts - guess I'll have to get new ones now!):

I Don't Want My Children to be Happy

I found this blog through a friend on facebook. It's something I need to remember! http://itsalmostnaptime.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-dont-want-my-children-to-be-happy.html

Ho, Hum - Must I do school?

Eric is a funny one - here's what I found written on his math paper the other day: If you can't see it, it says 'Eric yawns'.

Upward basketball and cheerleading season came to an end. Here are some pictures of the awards ceremony: RA (Royal Ambassadors) Racers Night - Our church had a pine derby race for the kids. Eric came in 2nd among the 1st graders and 5th among 1st-6th graders: Jaelyn started soccer. She's having a lot of fun! And here are a couple of videos: Eric's car is in the far right lane. Jaelyn is #4 on the blue team.
