What a special day at ELO today! I help with the 1st and 2nd graders and we've been studying the continents. Today, we learned about Australia and what better way to learn than to invite a true, blue Aussie (pronounced Ozzie, right Deb?) to our class. Mrs. Ez was so kind to take some of her precious school time and share it with our class. I have never seen these kids sit and listen so intently to any of us - probably because we don't have a cool accent! She shared her culture with the kids that none of us could do and she even shared a vegemite sandwich (turn your volume up!). So, I thought I'd leave you with some pictures and a song 'Land Down Under'.

Oh - Dana!! You should never offer something like that if you aren't serious?? We are just picking and choosing different countries within the continents. We have picked the countries already for the rest of the year, but let me check with the other teachers to see if we can switch around some. We love to have guest speakers!

Dana - you are much too busy!! Yes, May is too late (I think we're done the 1st or 2nd Wednesday in April). Bummer!

If something changes, please let us know - we would fit you in spur of the moment with no problem! Otherwise, when we do the contintents and countries again - we know where to find you!!

I'm assuming you'll get this via the blog, but I may send it via email just to be sure!

the problem is having some cakes to do and we are going on a vacation in march. so while i have wednesdays available i have no time to plan. maybe next year would best.

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
