I Hate Phone Calls

I am a phone-aphobic (is that a word??). I absolutely hate making or taking phone calls (I don't mind taking phone calls from people I know, so you can keep calling). Even if it's someone I know well, I'd rather email them or call when I know I can leave a message. I think it stems from my people pleaser mentality. Even if I know you, I don't want to bother you as you might be in the middle of doing something! You'd think after a good many years working in customer service having to take and make probably 100 calls a day, it wouldn't bother me - maybe that's why - I'm all phoned out!

I just wanted to share that thought as I just made a phone call to someone that although I've met, I don't know well. I did it as I don't think my emails are going through! The good news is - I left a message :) And earlier today, I emailed for a service request for something rather than calling - gotta love email!

So, if I email you rather than call, now you'll know why!

On a side note - This is a conversation I had with Jaelyn the other day:

Mommy - "Jaelyn, I think we should cut your hair" (although I hate the thought of that, but her hair is a terrible mess to comb through - you'd think I cut her leg off the way she screams)

Jaelyn - "Then no one will know me without my curls".


Obviously you can tell that people always comment on her curls - what will she do without them!? I haven't decided to cut them yet.

i completely understand! i get major anxiety about phone calls. caller id is a WONDERFUL invention! :)

After 5 years working as a telephone counsellor, I dislike the phone too. Email is great! We can form a "phono-phobic" group!

It's so good to see I'm not alone!! Caller ID is wonderful and I wouldn't be opposed to an email only group!!

A least we don't still live in the time period where people "came callin". That meant they just showed up at your house unannounced and expected a meal! UGGGG!

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
