South Padre Island, Here We Come!

We were due for a much needed family vacation. David has been working a lot of hours and has had some tough stuff going on at work. So, a few months ago, we decided South Padre was the destination. We went last week and were very blessed that my mom came with us. It was a great vacation and it's been great to spend time with my mom. I think the coolest thing we saw was a sea turtle coming up on shore to lay her eggs. According to the sea turtle rescue folks, this was the first one of the season. Eric and I saw her crawl up on the beach and dig her hole. Then we decided to run back (probably close to a mile) and get the camera and the girls. By the time we got back, the sea turtle rescue volunteers were there measuring and tagging her. We also went on a dolphin watch and eco tour (all of these were perfect things considering Jessica just studied swimming creatures for science). The beach was great, the view was great, the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Here are a few pictures and videos of the week!

The sunrise, the sunset, and the moon. These were all taken either from the balcony of our condo or the front porch of the condo. Fun on the beach and in the gulf! The kids had so much fun playing on the beach and feeding the seagulls. On the eco tour, we were able to see a squid, a crab, and some other varieties of fish. We also saw dolphins! Here's the sea turtle we saw on the beach. She laid 77 eggs. It was really amazing!

And last, but certainly not least, my baby girl turned 6 while we were gone! Not a bad way to spend your 6th birthday!
