Could It Be Time For Another Picture Post!?

Here it is July 22 - where does the time go? Right after my last post, we headed up to Nebraska. My mom is having an auction of my dad's 'treasures'! He's got guns, tools, coins, marbles, old Life magazines, plus too many numerous things to mention. He was a collector! We went up to help her sort through things. My brother and I looked through and took some of the stuff that we wanted and then separated the other stuff that mom would keep and auction off. It's hard to believe that their house could hold so much stuff. I have some pictures, but I'm waiting to post those until after the auction so I can post before, during, and after pictures. The auction will be in about 4 weeks - so we'll be headed back up there for that!

However, the time spent wasn't all work and no play! So, here are some of our play pictures!

These pictures are of the annual girls night out. I haven't been able to go before so this was a real treat. We went to an outdoor theatre and watched White Christmas. It was excellent and the company was even better. Eric had to go because David already left to come home. His favorite part of the night - catching a toad at intermission.

Our whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins) weren't able to get together at Christmas because of all the snow. So, we had Christmas in July. We brought an old turntable and some 45s (do you younger folks know what that is??), played some music, swam in the pool, played games, shot blue rock (am thankful the rest of the family can shoot well, because I can't shoot worth beans - this Texas girl needs some practice), had a cake walk, did some karaoke and just generally had a great time!

Jaelyn lost two teeth! Grandma toothfairy contributed to the pot so Jaelyn made out big!


Had time to play with friends in Kansas.



Then we came home and started swimming lessons! Whew - I thought June was busy! I wonder what August will bring - hopefully some down time!

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
