Ear Infection

Eric has the most unusual ear infections that I know of. He's only had 3 - 2 of them were before the age of 2 and today, he has another one.

When he was little, he never fussed, cried, ran a fever or anything prior to his 2 ear infections. He just tugged at his ears and I finally took him in. The verdict was always "Wow, I'm surprised he hasn't been crying. That's a really bad ear infection."

So, yesterday around 4:30 he started to complain that his ear hurt. It was nothing dramatic (and it was right in the middle of picking up), so I didn't think too much about it. I gave him some Tylenol and Ibuprofin and he continued to play without too much complaint.

Well last night he couldn't sleep, said his ear really hurt and he was crying. So, I knew there was something up but I really didn't think it was an ear infection. Again, he had no fever, no cold, no runny nose, etc. So, I took him into the walk-in clinic this morning and the doctor's words, "Wow, I can see why that really hurts. It's a really bad ear infection. I wouldn't be surprised if his ear drum bursts." Great, just what a mother wants to hear. It makes me feel like such a bad mom that I didn't bring him in last night.

Oh well, we've got antibiotics and hopefully he's on the mend. He's watching TV, waiting for some ice cream and if he's lucky he might get out school (but then again he might not - I guess I am a mean mom!!). Hopefully he'll feel well enough to play basketball tomorrow!

My son was just like this when he was little. Before tubes, he had ear infections every 3-4 months, he never once acted like anything was wrong until it was extremely bad. When he was 2 I'll never forget his doctor telling me, don't be surprised if his ear drum burst, it will be okay, he will actually feel better. Talk about feeling like the worst mother ever.

Isaac just had one too the week before he got H1N1. Crazy! He hadn't had one since he got tubes when he was 18 months old!

There have been some crazy illnesses going around this year!

Miss seeing ya! I went to the meeting last week! I am already recruiting two new members to join CHEC from my school this year! I know I probally shouldn't do that huh???

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
