Don't Mean To Be An Alarmest . . .

But I guess I'm going to be! The 2 procedures (cardioversion and tracheoscomy) that were to be done today didn't get done. Apparently the doctors can't get together to get the timing of it all figured out. What a frustrating day for my mom.

With that being said, my mom said something to me that just made be sad and more worried than I have been. Not really sure if this is the forum to share it in, but I'm going to anyway. Although I don't think too many folks read this, I figure the more people sending up prayers, the better.

The doctor or one of the nurses said to mom that they want dad to be a little more alert so he knows what's going on. I think they've been keeping him mildly sedated to make him more comfortable while he's on the ventilator. So, anyway, apparently they want him to understand what they might be doing with the tracheoscomy. Mom said that she's pretty sure that if he's given the choice, he'll say take the ventilator out, no tracheoscomy, and make me as comfortable as possible.

So, again, I just ask for your prayers. I pray that there is some progress in his recovery and that dad is at least willing to give it a try to see if some progress can be made. It just breaks my heart that my mom is there by herself (there are other family members that are there, but it's not me) while all this is going on. And it just breaks my heart that the one thing my dad didn't want to happen with this surgery is happening.

Now with all that sadness, I do want to say that I'm not giving up hope. I am hopeful that the tracheoscomy will provide Dad some relief and will enable his recovery to be a little more rapid than it has been. Thanks for your prayers.

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! Mom

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
