What Have I Been Doing?

Not much worth blogging about apparently since I haven't blogged in over 2 weeks!! I have been doing lots of cleaning and purging. You would think since we just moved to this house 1 1/2 years ago and I always purge before a move that I wouldn't have much to get rid of. But I found stuff! So, the last couple of weeks I've:

1. washed the inside and outside of all the windows
2. cleaned, purged and organized the following:

  • master bedroom closet
  • hall closet
  • girls' room closet
  • Eric's closet
  • game cabinet
  • art/craft cabinet
  • kids' toys
  • all kitchen cabinets

I think that's about it! I should have taken some before and after pictures. I have taken some videos of the kids. They are kind of lengthy so I won't post them all here. But 2 I want to post is one of all the kids jamming with their pots and pan band! And one of Jaelyn boogeying down! She didn't know I was recording (that's why she's off camera for a little while), but I just thought it was a hoot. Near the end, Jessica and Eric also slink in a little to join in on the fun! Be sure to turn your volume up! Hope you all are having a great summer - can you believe it's almost over!?

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
