Two More Things . . .

I think! There are a couple of things I should have added to my previous post about the house that further illustrates God's provision, faithfulness, and goodness to our family. I guess it was such a long post and I just stopped thinking!

#1 - Although we lost a lot of money in the sale of our house, it could have been so much more! This is a house that we haven't lived in for 6 years and it is 35 years old. I was very nervous about the house inspection and what potential costs could lie ahead for that. Do you ever wonder why you continue to be nervous and worry when God has done nothing but take care of you?? When will I learn? There were some things that needed to be taken care of before the closing could take place. However, what potentially could have been several thousands of dollars, ended up being just under $1,000 (there could have been issues with the AC/furnace which I know is at least 15-18 years old, the roof is at least 15-20 years old, etc.). So, we are very thankful that the inspection went very well in our favor!

#2 - I have mentioned several times about how I didn't want to move to Texas (leaving behind family, friends, and familiarity). However, I don't think I mention enough just how God has provided women here in East Texas that have welcomed me and made me feel very at home. These women are truly my friends and I don't know what I would do without their friendship and support. I lived in Omaha for almost 5 years and although I had my family close by, I can honestly say I didn't make the friendships there that I have here (and we've been here just 2 years). So, although I know I will leave someone out, I just want to say thanks to my friends - Aimee, Laura, Debbie, Darlene, Jennifer, Jessi, Mae, Rhonda, Karen, Stacey, Kara, Angie - you are a blessing to me! Also, to those that I forgot to mention - please forgive me!! Thanks for making Texas feel like home!

You are such a sweet person. It has been so great getting to know you. I'm so glad that we were in ELO together! I hope your friendship continues to grow and that you continue to enjoy east Texas! ;)

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
