Good Friends = Good Times

We are blessed with some of the best friends you could ask for! The friends I'm speaking of now are our good friends from Michigan, Eric and Kim. We had the good fortune to spend a couple of days with them last weekend. Two of their kids stayed with us while Eric and Kim were attending a conference in Dallas. They drove over for the weekend before they had to fly back on Sunday afternoon. I haven't seen them in 2 years (that is way too long!!!). As a matter of fact, the last time we saw them was right before we moved to Texas. They drove to Topeka specifically for the purpose of helping us get our house ready to put on the market. They helped paint the entire inside of the house and they helped with some landscaping. They stayed with us even though we had no furniture - they worked hard and we were so blessed by their sacrifice of time to come and help us! Even though it's been 2 years since we've seen them, it was like yesterday when they came. We had such a good time and I'm looking forward to getting up to Michigan soon (now that our house in Omaha has finally sold!). I thought I'd leave you with some pictures (most of them are of the kids - I didn't think to get a picture of Eric and Kim). At the end of the slide show, I added some pictures from 2 years ago.

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
