Happy Birthday Sweet Jaelyn!

It's hard to believe my baby girl is 5! Where does the time go? We were (and still are) so blessed when she entered our lives 5 years ago. She can be sweet and sassy, compliant and defiant, all at the same time. She knows what she wants and has the determination to go after it. I wish I was more eloquent with words so I could share Jaelyn even more with you, but I'm not! Just know what a blessing she is. For those of you who know and love Jaelyn, you already know! And please make a special note of the last couple of pictures - new headband!!

This is Easter of 2006 - almost 2 years old.

Summer of 2006
Summer of 2006 in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan.
Summer of 2007 - 3 years old.
She's growing up fast!
Christmas 2007 - she loved the wedding.

1st day of school - August 2008 - 4 years old
Less than 2 months later - all her beautiful curls were cut off :(
Today - she's 5 years old and proud of it. Most importantly, the gold headband is no more!!

I will miss the gold headband. Maybe we should have a service for it.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOLD HEAD BAND? I am mourning the loss. I may not recognize her anymore!!

She got some new headbands for her birthday and she got rid of the gold one all on her own!! Now, she'll have several colors to choose from - wonder if she'll just stick with one?

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
