Prayers for Dad

I just wanted to do a quick update and ask for prayers for my dad. My dad is a great man and I'd do just about anything for him (as he would for me and my family). One of the hardest things about moving to East Texas was moving away from my family (mom, dad, brother and his family, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). It's difficult knowing that if something were to happen, you can't just hop in the car and be there!

Dad's health just hasn't been what he's used to this past year. He was in the hospital 2-3 months ago for some shortness of breath and chest pains. He's back in the hospital now for congestive heart failure. I'm not expecting anything drastic to happen because of this, but it's just hard not being there to encourage him (or possibly just have some political disagreement with him and take his mind off of the situation!!?). It's also hard not to be able to be there just to sit with Mom in the hospital or encourage her.

I'm thankful that my brother is close, that my mom's sister is close, and that there are other family members and friends that can be there for her and my dad. However, it's not the same as me being there. It breaks my heart!

So, if you are reading this, please pray for my mom and dad. I would just pray that dad's health is fully restored and that my mom would be encouraged. Also, pray for me as it is difficult to be so far away. I want to go up so badly, it's just a matter of figuring out the logistics of it. We may decide to go up for Thanksgiving - is that OK Mom?

I completely understand your predicament and am praying for you and the family. You need to utilize Skype and a webcam so that you can see everyone and feel like you are there.

Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June! Mom

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy!
