Pray For Your Children

I was inspired by another post (Laura) and the link to the article on ways to pray for your children. Just in the last couple of days, I've thought of posting this list that I got several years ago and just haven't done. So, thanks, Laura, for the inspiration to include it. It may be a duplicate of some of the thinks the article mentioned, but when it comes to praying for your children, I don't think that's all bad. I have definitely added the 40 things mentioned to my list!

  • That they learn to know the true and living God.
  • That they will treasure God's word in their hearts.
  • As they hear and read God's word, a genuine love for God will develop.
  • That the word of God will be the basis for every decision that they make.
  • That God will open their eyes to spiritual truth and keep them from backsliding and compromising their faith.
  • To have a deep desire to accept God's will for their lives.
  • That God will raise them up to be successful in the work He has planned for them to do.
  • That they increase in Godly wisdom and have a keen sense of right and wrong.
  • That they will truly abhor evil and cling to that which is good.
  • That God will protect them from satan and his wiles in every area of their lives.
  • That God will destroy the enemies in their lives such as rebellion, disobedience, unforgiveness, weakness, jealousy, hate, lying, envy, strife, stealing, gossip, etc.
  • That our children will always hear God's voice clearly when they are tempted.
  • When they are guilty of sin, that God will reveal that sin and cause repentance.
  • That God will instill in them a Godly respect for authority, and not a rebellious spirit.
  • That they will grow in favor with God spiritually and man socially.
  • That God will develop in them a thankful heart.
  • That they will have an attitude of themselves that is Godly, knowing they are uniquely made by Him.
  • That they will remember no matter what they do, God will always love them.
  • Equip us a parents to teach our children about You, Lord.
  • That they will have a strong sense of belonging to a loving family.
  • That they will stand united with their families regardless of what it cost them.
  • That God will chose their friends, and shield from from those who shouldn't be.
  • That God will encourage them to remain sexually pure and preserve them for the helpmate of His choosing, and keep them from the wrong one.
  • That God will give our children a double portion of the spiritual blessings which he has given to us.
  • That their life will be a living testimony of the greatness and love of Yeshua (Jesus), and that their life will touch others for Christ.
  • That God will be honored and glorified in everything they do.

I can't believe it's been a little over 10 years since I last posted. Sometimes I wish I would have kept up with the blog, it's a nice record of the time! A lot has happened in those 10 years, but I'm here to document my mom! It's been 12 years since my dad died. Overall, my mom has done really well. She stayed in her own home for about 6 years and then she moved to an independent retirement community. Although she didn't like it at first, she made some great friends and I believe thoroughly enjoyed living there. The last two or three years have been tough on her. Her health has declined somewhat, she uses a walker, has aches and pains, and has taken several falls. She's been so fortunate that none of those falls have resulted in any broken bones and overall, she's recovered well from them. However, this last fall that she took, has taken its toll on her. We Interrupt The Blogging Update . . .

for a current blog post! I had the privilege of going to Fort Hood this week to see my cousin off to Iraq. For several reasons, her mom and dad were not able to come down (Hannah went up to see them the weekend before) and since we are only 4 hours from Fort Hood and family is everything to me, I couldn't let Hannah be deployed without family present. I am so proud of her for choosing to serve our country! It was a very heart wrenching experience. I cried at the thought of Hannah being over there and it was terribly sad to see husbands and wives and fathers and children saying goodbye. Please remember all the troops in your prayers! Here are some of the pictures. I think Eric and Jaelyn were a good distraction! They didn't think the duffel bags were so heavy! Back to Updating! It's now June!

Since July has passed and now it's August, I thought it's about time to update the goings on from June! Ready, set, go! We signed the kids up for tennis camp. It's a fun way to be exposed to tennis for little amounts of money! Annual swimming lessons. The kids are pretty good at swimming - but we just like to keep improving upon their skills. We went to the Adrian Peterson football camp in Tyler. It was very hot, but Eric had a lot of fun! We were invited to go boating with some friends! The kids had a great time tubing and trying their hand at skiing. Had fun with friends. Our friends, the Taylors came to visit! And, hopefully you have made it this far, as the the most important part of June - my first born turned 11. Oh my - where does the time go? Thanks for reading about our month of June!
